Our coaches

Through a combination of great leadership and tireless effort, Skating Director, Amy Frederick, the coaches and parents of Diamond City Figure Skating have built the most successful ice skating club in the history of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Zoe Stewart, Lisa Kinney, Amy Frederick, Ashleigh Button, Michelle Ruchinski

Amy Frederick

- More than 30 years of experience as a competitive figure skater and coach

- Guided skaters through successful programs at Keystone State Games and other regional competitions

- Fostered an excellent working relationship with the Mohegan Sun Arena and the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (top affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins), placing skaters at numerous arena skating programs (including Stars on Ice)


Lisa Kinney

- Member of USFSA
 - More than 10 years experience teaching Learn To Skate group lessons and private lessons
 - Enjoys teaching beginners of all ages
- Highest test levels passed - Juvenile Free Style, 3rd Figures, and two dances on the Silver Dance Level
- Competed in Solo Dance competitions
 - Started a skating program for Special Olympics through the Deutsch Institute
- Coached skaters for Special Olympics
- Graduate of College Misericordia with a degree in elementary education
 - Teaches 3rd grade at Heights Murray School in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District
- Resides in Sugar Notch with sons Robert, Ryan, and Kevin


Michelle Ruchinski

-Member of USFSA
-Certified Learn to Skate Instructor
-Test Chair for DCFSC
-Secretary for the DCFSC Board of Directors
-Competed in free skate and dance
-Carried the torch for figure skating in the 1996 Keystone State Games held in Wilkes-Barre, PA
-Teaches moves in the field and free skate to ages 3+
-Graduate of Crestwood Highschool and earned an A.B.A from Kings College
-Employed by the Commonwealth of PA
-Resides in Kingston with her husband, Tony and two dogs, Louie and Gucci

 

ASHLEIGH BUTTON

-Member USFSA
-Active member of the Diamond City Figure Skating Club and competitive skater for more than 10 years
-Placed during competitive competitions such as the Hershey Open, Skaneateles Invitational, and the Keystone State Games
-Teaches all ages in moves in the field, freestyle and dance
-Currently is a student at Misericorida University, studying medical imaging
-She shares her passion and love for skating with people of all ages
